5 Food for Dental Whitening

Banana peels – rub your teeth with the white part of the banana peels. It wipes out the discoloration on the teeth. However, if done too often, it may cause gum ache.

Lettuce- With abundant fiber, it helps eliminate plaque and helps with dental whitening.

Dark chocolate – the major component of chocolate, theobromine, helps strengthen the while surface of the teeth and prevents from discoloration.

Green tea- the tannin constituent of green tea kills dental bacteria and helps purify stains on the teeth. Also they strengthen the white surface of the teeth and helps with clean breath.

Strawberry- the Amino Acid component in the strawberry is one of the best food in preventing discoloration. Mix strawberry mash with baking soda and apply it on your teeth. Wash your teeth after 5 minutes and it will have bleaching effect!

Inflammation of the gums, gingivitis, is a weaker version of periodontitis, advanced inflammation of the gums. Periodontitis spreads deeper from gums to the jaw bone. The general gingivoplasty that we are familiar is a procedure to cure periodontitis. Did you know that Cavities may NOT look dark?

Usually people relate Cavities with black teeth, but it’s not exact.

Initially, when the teeth decompose due to acid, it looks yellow. As it progresses, a protective layer of dark matter forms on the teeth and that is what we see. It is difficult to notice and so people miss the initial treatment period.

Did you know that cavities don’t always hurt?

People find it hard to accept that they have cavities when they don’t have any pain. It is very dangerous to estimate the progress of the cavities by the level of pain. The pain is usually felt once the cavities are deep enough to stimulate the nervous system.

Did you know that even with Crown placement cavities can exist?

Just because the patient received crown placement doesn’t mean that those teeth are safe from cavities. As time progresses, the crowns may not fit the teeth as they did initially, causing bacteria and other material to fill the gaps thus causing dental erosion.

We advise you to receive regular dental check-ups in order to prevent from spending more money and time than necessary.
